Yoga

What is Yoga? The word yoga means connection, unification, balance and harmony. It identifies a philosophy, a spiritual discipline or religion; it is used to identify physical and spiritual exercises.

Yoga is a discipline teaching about the body, mind, consciousness and spirit. Yoga uses awareness of the anatomy and physiology of the human body in a developed system of physical exercises and purification techniques, which help keep the body healthy and in good condition.

One of the goals of Yoga is to attain spiritual peace and balance between the body and mind. Yoga leads to a balanced emotional and mental state, to attainment of spiritual peace. This is expressed as harmony in inter-personal relations, love of all that is created and unselfish work for society.

The beneficial effects of Yoga on the human body

The goal of Yoga is to seek out and develop these natural and pleasant feelings. However, if we wish to enjoy exercising for extended periods, or in more demanding positions, we do not have to be afraid of overextending ourselves. But this only applies if, at all times, we continue to carefully monitor that we are exercising for pleasure, not for the purpose of achieving an impressive position.

We offer Yoga classes for groups or individuals in cooperation with Marika Busbridge, Markéta Maršálková, Tereza Cíchová, Artem and Delphine Prokešová.

The class content can be adapted to your requirements. Individual classes can take place at the time required by the client. Classes take place at Thai Fit 3, Petrská 23, Prague 1.

Recommendation:

We recommend that you bring a towel to the class. We exercise in bare feet. Your own slip-free mat is suitable, but not necessary. It is a good idea to have something to cover yourself with for the final period of relaxation. Please try to refrain from eating approx. 3 hours before the class. We recommend that you refrain from drinking during the class. It is a good idea to wait 30 minutes after the class before eating.

Types of Yoga at Thai Fit

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic exercise inspired by Vinyasa Ashtanga. It is creative, smooth and physically demanding Yoga, during which students are directed towards appropriately combining their breathing with the asanas (yoga positions). It combines the most important Yoga asana traditions in a new method and combines the best of the old with modern Yoga wisdom. Vinyasa helps establish strength, flexibility, stamina, grace and pleasure in movement.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga – yoga during which the movements of your body are in tune with your own breath. Classic yoga asanas are taught and are performed with extended holds with the correct breathing technique. This exercise method is beneficial for your muscles and also correct function of your internal organs. Hatha Yoga classes use a combination of physical positions – asanas, breath control/breath technique - pranayama, kriya – purification techniques and attentive awareness of physical and subtle bodies for preparation of contemplation and meditation.

Lunch Yoga

Suitable for everyone.

Lunch Yoga classes are a little different every time, focusing on different topics. We can concentrate on opening our hips, strengthening our thoracic spine, shoulders, on back pain, backward bends, etc. The classes take place at a slower tempo, individual asanas are held for up to several minutes. Attention is focused on breathing and on internal concentration. Exercise calms your mind, deeply strengthens your muscles and is very relaxing.

Yoga (not only) for Weight Loss

Suitable for everyone.

Dynamic Yoga, which forms and shapes your body, improves the function of internal processes and the condition of individual organs within the body (metabolism, massage of internal organs, elimination, stimulation of lymph flow throughout the body, the whole body’s defensive abilities). Regular exercise results in relaxation, stretching and simultaneously strengthening of muscles, which are then visually lengthened, refined and create beautiful bodylines. Smooth, controlled breathing and concentration establishes a state of deep relaxation. This exercise is good for our body, as well as our mind.

Can I come to a yoga class without making a reservation?

Of course, but it is better if you contact the instructor first.

What should I bring with me?

Exercise equipment for students is available, but you can bring your own non-slip mat or blanket, etc. We recommend you bring a towel and comfortable clothing to the class.
